Shopping is the examining of goods or services from retailers with the intent to purchase at that time. Shopping is an activity of selection and/or purchase. In some contexts it is considered a leisure activity as well as an economic one.

Shopping in ancient societies

Shopping can be traced back to many civilisations in history. In ancient Rome, there was Trajan's Market with tabernas that served as retailing units. Shopping lists are known to be used by Romans as one was discovered by Hadrian's wall dated back to 75–125 AD and written for a soldier.

What is the busiest shopping day of the week in retail?
Q. In general what is the busiest shopping day of the week? I am not talking about the busiest shopping day of the year, just in general, what day of the week sees the most sales/activity?

A. Saturday is ALWAYS the busiest. Wednesday is the quietest. I've worked in retail for ages and in loads of different shopping centres and it is always the same.

A. Stop buying branded goods. The supermarkets own stuff is usually just as good and they are often produced by the same people who make the branded goods.

How exactly are shopping cart child restraints supposed to work?
Q. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I really don't understand how they are *supposed* to work. I can sit my son in the shopping cart, adjust the belt around his waist, clip it, and it does absolutely nothing to keep him from climbing out. So, how is that one waist belt supposed to actually act as a restraining device?

A. I think in order to get the restraint to work correctly, you have to squish your child against the hard metal rails and snap him in with barely any breathing room. Seriously I dont know, but that seems like the only logical way. Even though it doesnt seem right.
