From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Figurines is an indie rock band from Denmark, formed in the mid-1990s. The band released their first EP, The Detour, in 2001 and their first full-length album, Shake a Mountain, in 2003. The band began to receive national attention in Denmark around the time of the full-length release, and began touring Germany in 2004. Their second full-length, Skeleton, was released in 2005 on Danish label Morningside Records and German label Pop-U-Loud, and on US label The Control Group in 2006. The band began a North American tour after being nominated for a Canadian Music Week Indie award and has since performed at the Indies ceremony, SXSW, KEXP, and in cities in the US, Canada, and Europe. The band has also received positive press from Pitchfork Media, The New York Times, and Spin, among others. Figurines's sound has been most often compared to that of Pavement, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill. The band released their third record When the Deer Wore Blue in 2007 with Chicago-based co-producer/engineer Jeremy Lemos, who has worked with Smog, Jim O'Rourke, Loose Fur, and many other Windy City acts in the past. The new material is more psychedelic than previous efforts, but remains faithful to the melodic-pop sounds of Skeleton and Shake a Mountain on several tracks, including "Hey, Girl", the first single from the record. GNU Free Documentation License Where can I get custom vinyl figurines made? Q. I'm looking to do a small run (500) of custom vinyl figurines that I designed. I have sketches of characters and would need a company to produce them. Can someone please point me in the right direction with companies or websites that could help me get this started? Thanks! Q. We've got a bunch of figurines here (some are hollow houses, but the rest are completely solid, painted miniatures) and they don't have labels describing if they are porcelain or ceramic. We want to list them on eBay, but don't know how to describe them. Please tell us how to tell the difference between porcelain and ceramic miniatures. Also, is it okay to wash them? If the item is not glazed with a glass like painted surface, and you pour water into it, and the water stays, its porcelain, porcelain is very fine, not rough at all, smooth to the touch like an egg shell and is usually thinner than ceramic. Both Ceramic and Porcelain can be washed, handwashed though, witha very soft sponge so you do not scratch the surface, do not leave them soaking, it will ruin the item. Q. My son's dragon figurine's wing broke off during shipping, and since I cannot return it or exchange it (EBay) I am forced to try and repair it. I've never had good luck fixing miniatures, figurines, or anything else made of a poly resin, porcelain, or ceramic. I've tried super glue and construction adhesive, both did not work. I was able to clean most of the failed attempts off though so I have a semi clean working surface. Any advice would be great, as this was his Christmas present.
