Answered by Ed Atun - Wed Dec 24 18:15:51 2008 Need Help Naming an Estate Sale Service? Q. We sell vintage jewelry and collectibles online and often go to estate sales, etc. in the Bay Area. However, we recently moved to the valley and have found that estate sales are almost non-existent. The few we have been to have been run poorly, the places trashed by customers and the dismayed family members watching in horror. I got the idea that perhaps my hubby and I would start an Estate Sale biz that was a full service, in other words meet carefully and respectfully with family of deceased member or someone that went to a nursing home; handle everything from organizing whatever is left after they take what heirlooms they want; pricing, advertising, dealer previews, cleanup and haul off, donation of leftovers etc. The last thing a… [cont.] Asked by covetedcollectibles - Wed Jun 21 11:03:45 2006 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments A. Whatever you end up calling it, and if and when you decide to advertise, make sure you put the basic message of your question in that advertising. I've seen enough estate sales to know that someone that is geared towards compassion, rather than quck sales, would end up making much more money in the long run. Your reputation will be your greatest asset. Answered by radyoman - Wed Jun 21 15:22:35 2006 Does anyone go to garage sales anymore?
Q. My family used to have garage sales in the 1970's & 80's and our front yard looked like St. Peter's Square on Easter. I decided to have a sale again, after more years of accumulating. There's some really nice stuff - antiques, artwork and all sorts of collectibles. I dropped a few hints at work and all I got, in effect, was "I already have too much junk now, thanks anyway!" I advertised in the Pennysaver and on Craig's List. I live right on the main street in town and put out a big sign in the front yard - "Estate sale." Not one person stopped all weekend!
