Q. Since the government has given Mattel a free pass on third party lead testing, I don't feel comfortable buying any of their toys anymore (especially since so many of the recalled toys were from Mattel and this law is only affecting small companies). Problem is that the boys really love their little hot wheels cars and now I need to find an alternative. If anyone knows the makes of the competitors I'd appreciate it. Matchbox was bought from Tyco by Mattel back in '93 I believe so they go through the same "rigorous and extensive" lead testing as hotwheels.
