A tractor is a vehicle specifically designed to deliver a high tractive effort (or torque) at slow speeds, for the purposes of hauling a trailer or machinery used in agriculture or construction. Most commonly, the term is used to describe the distinctive farm vehicle: agricultural implements may be towed behind or mounted on the tractor, and the tractor may also provide a source of power if the implement is mechanised. Another common use of the term, "tractor unit", describes the power unit of a semi-trailer truck (articulated lorry).

The word tractor was taken from Latin, being the agent noun of trahere "to pull". The first recorded use of the word meaning "an engine or vehicle for pulling wagons or ploughs" occurred in 1901, displacing the earlier term traction engine (1859).

How many tractors did A have originally?
Q. Contractors A, B, and C faced a shortage of tractors on a construction project, so they lent one another tractors as needed. First, A lent B and C as many tractors as each already had. A few months later, B lent A and C as many tractors as each already had. Still later, C lent A and B as many tractors as each already had. By then each contractor had 24 tractors. How many tractors did A have originally?

So at the beginning, B had 21, C had 12, and Contractor A had 39 tractors orgiinally

what mechanism towbarless tractors have while towing the aircraft when there is a risk of steering failure?
Q. like normally towbar tractors if there is a steering mechanism failure, towbar will break to prevent damage to nose landing gear.but in case of towbarless tracors, its holding the wheels from both sides tightly..so how do it work when ders a steering mechanism failure evenif the steering pin is installed??

A. The tractor has over-torque protection sensors. A red light flashes in the cab of the tractor when a certain amount of force is reached letting the driver know something is wrong, like forgetting the steering bypass pin. If the driver keeps going and reaches a slightly higher force, the tractor shuts down and the brakes are applied to prevent any damage to the plane or the tractor. Since there's no towbar, no towbar damage or shear bolts breaking. This is assuming you're talking about the towbarless tractors for bigger planes like the B757, B747 etc.

Who finds tractors and coaches the most annoying thing in the world?
Q. They are the worlds slowest vehicles and always seem to be on the road during the "going to work" and "coming home from work" periods... No offense to the people who do these jobs but its so irritating. Why cant they just wait for everyone to get into and leave work?.. RAAAH!

A. As a truck driver, If we where all to wait till after 9 am to start driving then anything and everything you own would cost a hell of alot more then it does now. It would make manufacturer's to work twice as hard to meet the demands. everything you own or use, from your car to the toilet paper you use was at one time or more on one of them slow trucks. Next time your annoyed by a slow truck, just think about how many annoyed drivers cut off the poor driver just to be in front of him instead of behind. Think about how that man in the slow truck has a family to feed just like you. And think about how many hard working family men are injured or killed cause of some annoyed commuter cuts off a truck. Over 70% of truck/car accidents are cause… [cont.]
